The standard smoothing factor is 2. A higher smoothing factor gives more weight to recent prices.
Is EMA 9 good for intraday trading? Yes — the 9-period EMA is widely used by intraday traders to identify short-term trend direction and potential entry/exit points.
What do the 12 and 26-day EMAs tell you? These are the foundation of MACD. EMA 12 is the fast line and EMA 26 is the slow line. When EMA 12 crosses above EMA 26, it generates a bullish MACD signal.
